OCR Document Verification for Social Protection

Project overview

An AI/OCR-based automated supporting document verification system engineered for social protection and health insurance services, systematically validating documentary evidence against applicant claims.

Built during the Berlin Hackathon hosted by GIZ Germany at the SAP Data Space (Feb 2026), the engine extracts structured parameters from unstructured uploaded citizen documents and cross-checks them in real-time against application declarations.

The architecture dramatically reduces manual verification effort by 75%, enhances automated detection of inconsistencies and fraudulent submissions, and provides a standardized API ready for direct integration into openIMIS and national social registries.
